GDCA 2020 Annual Awards

In the year 2020 we had 128 Great Danes earn their championships.

The 2020 Breeder of the Year, will not be presented this year as the top breeder is not a GDCA member.

The 2020 Stud Dog of the Year is CH Chanoz Daystar Around The River Bend owned by Lori Beilke, Linda Jobe and Michelle Bjorkman.  He sired five champions.

The following two stud dogs each had four champions GCHP CH MJM’s Talk of the Town and GCH CH Briarwood’s My Way V My-Jon.

The 2020 Brood Bitch of the Year is GCH CH Stardust’s Stealin’ The Spotlight owned by Darry L Pitts,  Brian and Wendy O’Donnell, with four champions.

There was a tie for this award, however the other Brood Bitch owner was not a GDCA member.

The Top 2020 Owner Handled Dane with 850 points is GCH CH Magazu N Danemark’s Let Them Eat Cake V Legado owned by Jason Dubman and Francisco Camacho.

The Top 2020 Great Dane Breed Points is GCHG CH Landmark-Divine Acres Kiss Myself I’m So Pretty with 1107 points. “Lovely” earned two BIS, five Group 1, five Group 2, one Group 3, three Group 4 placements and 40 BOB.  She is owned by Melissa Ruppert and Stephanie Taylor.

The Top 2020 Great Dane Group Points is for the second year in a row, GCHG CH Landmark-Divine Acres Kiss Myself I’m So Pretty. She earned with 5.397 points, which included two BIS, five Group 1, five Group 2, one Group 3, three Group 4 placements and 40 BOB.   She is owned by Melissa Ruppert and Stephanie Taylor.

The Top 2020 Junior Handler will not be presented for the 2020 standings because none of the top ten are GDCA members.

All of the Annual Awards will be presented during the Awards Banquet at the GDCA National Specialty the week of October 25 – October 30 in Myrtle Beach, SC.   Traci Rinaldo, Gayle Smith and Rita Suddarth assisted with compiling the above results. All of the award honorees will be receiving a confirmation email from Margaret A. Ontl the GDCA Awards Chairperson.

Two new awards were added this year, AKC Virtual Rally Novice and Intermediate. There were no qualifying GDCA members. These awards will be offered for the 2021 competitive year as well.  The GDCA Board of Directors will reconsider in 2022.
